Become a Student of the Game
Contrary to traditional wisdom, Judo can be and should be learned by watching and studying videos and DVDs, and by reading books. Since there simply isn't enough class time to present to students the entire inventory of Judo techniques, self-discovery of Judo through visual training aids becomes all the more important. In addition, because Judo students don't have access to professional Judo role models on TV or in local sports arenas, the audio-visual materials listed below will help fill that void. The Judo performed by international level players at the Olympics and World Championships is the closest we have to professional Judo, and thus becomes the model that all students should aspire to imitate.
The following videos and DVDs are highly recommended and can be purchased through Judo America.
